Advanced Standing

Students who have completed courses in institutions other than CLU or have ministerial experience in the local church may receive credit for their work. This requires a submission of official transcripts, certificates, diplomas, and/or a ministerial resume to the Academic Committee for evaluation.

General Guidelines

The Academic Committee follows these general guidelines in awarding Advanced Standing credits: Individuals must be enrolled students before requesting an Advanced Standing evaluation. Students may request an Advanced Standing evaluation at any time after enrolling but before they complete 10 courses. Advanced Standing hours awarded are officially applied to the transcript of a CLU student only upon completion of the residency requirement of five courses (15 semester hours) and payment of transfer fees, if assessed. It is imperative that ALL appropriate documents be submitted in a SINGLE request. There is no charge for the initial evaluation. Additional requests will be assessed a fee of $25.00 per request. Students are responsible to gather all transcripts, resumes, certificates, diplomas, etc., for submission to the registrar or dean of the school.

Evaluation of Ministerial Experience

In no case shall the maximum number of credits for ministerial experience granted exceed 30 credits for any student.

Ministerial Experience Fees

Students receiving ministerial experience credits are required to pay a tuition fee of $5.00 per credit awarded. For example, thirty credits of ministerial experience equal one hundred and fifty dollars of tuition fees.

Advanced Standing Placement

Advanced Standing credits place the student in the proper level of his/her program of study. Beginning with the Advanced Standing award the student works forward to the next highest level of study. All students desiring a Bachelor of Theology degree must earn at least one fourth (1/4) of the required credits at CLU.
